At last my wait is over! My dreams have come true… the URB-E Commuter has at last arrived for preorder. Isn’t it beautiful? I think I’ll get mine painted white with a cheerful yellow insert.
I love the new look except…
It’s different than the earlier version that I got so excited about. With four wheels now, instead of three, it is more stable, will brake better and one can ride while standing. It also has a much more powerful motor for tackling hills and the two side wheels are removable so that it becomes a GP model with a few twists of the screwdriver. All good, but will it “pull”? That’s my big question. I need to maneuver it easily with one hand.
I’m eagerly awaiting the URB-E team’s reply to my query. In the meantime, I’ll keep checking their website and social sites to see if they post any pictures or clips showing how the new configuration handles when folded. I’ll be quick to pay my deposit when I’m sure it will work for me. I’d prefer not to have to start locking it up outside the bank or struggle to balance it on one wheel while opening doors, gathering fresh produce for dinner or trying to push it along the dangerously busy section of road near where I work.
I am hopeful that their reply will be favorable. Buried in the comments on the URB-E Facebook page, Grant Delgatty replies that when folded it still rolls along like a piece of luggage. But I need to see it in action – it just doesn’t look like it could possibly roll. I hope I’m wrong, because I really, really, really want one.
…with a sunshiny yellow insert
…and a luggage rack
…and a carrying strap
…that rolls along with me.
